The Flag of Nunavut features vertical yellow and white fields divided by a red inuksuk, a traditional Inuit land marker, with a blue star in the upper right. The star represents Niqirtsuituq, the North Star, and elder leadership, while blue and yellow symbolize the richness of land, sea, and sky. Approved on April 1, 1999, the flag represents Canada’s newest, largest, and northernmost territory.
