Verethragna is the Iranian god of war and victory, “the one who destroys obstacles.” Yasht 14 of the Avesta describes his transformations into wind, bull, horse, camel, boar, falcon, sheep, goat, and a warrior. He grants Zarathustra strength, power, and sharp sight; as the falcon Vargan, he symbolizes royal power.
